I did try competitors every now and then but it didn’t feel good.

When this season started, Hattrick Organizer was very quick in fixing a change in the Hattrick XML structure. As HCP is not being developed at all, I was forced to try something else. So I tried HO and it worked quite well! The feeling still was not as good as with HCP, but the features breath that they’ve still been improved in the last couple of years while HCP has been standing still for quite some time now.

Open Source

A big advantage of HO is that it’s open source. This means that if the main developer might decide to stop developing then the rest of the world can continue improving the tool. Which indeed we saw with HCP.

Features

All the features you would expect from a Hattrick Manager assistant are available in HO. Managing players, manage your training, find your perfect line up, etc.

The Hattrick University Hattrick SubLevelTool makes an estimate of the sublevel of a player as presented by you. You enter salary, stamina, playmaking, winger, scoring, keeper, passing, defending, set pieces levels of you player and you get an overview like the following:

Sub Level: very high
very high(75-99%)

According to the developer this tool is

A lot of users are not able to use their favorite tools anymore. The changes were made for “Improved CHPP security” as stated in the news communicated on 23-9-2008. But what is this CHPP? And what is it for?

What is CHPP?

CHPP stands for Certified Hattrick Product Provider. A tool or as Hattrick calls it, a programs, may only use this logo when it’s been tested safe by Hattrick. In order to avoid users from using tools that use the logo but in fact are not authorized to do so, Hattrick maintains a list of approved tools. This tool can be find under community when you’re logged into Hattrick. The list on the moment of writing this post can be found below.

What is CHPP for?

Hattrick tools communicate with Hattrick. This means they have access to a lot of information about you and your team. As we don’t want all kind of teams misusing this information the are certain guidelines for what applications may do or not.

To become a Certified Hattrick Program Provider (CHPP) you must agree to follow the CHPP rules. Here’s the process of how it works:

  1. Get a bright idea.
  2. Figure out what features you want to have in the program.
  3. Apply for CHPP before you start developing. State your features. Wait for the HT-team to approve or disapprove the program, and for each feature see if the HT-team has approved it or not. At this point, all your features are hidden from the public so you do not risk unwanted competition to that all-grand-dandy killer-feature before it is finished.
  4. When accepted as a CHPP, you may join the CHPP conference.
  5. Develop the program with all the approved features.
  6. When finished, check back to the CHPP page and choose the features that you want to publish to the public.
  7. You decided to develop a new version. Just add more functions on the CHPP page, wait for approval, and develop.

Program description and functions must be in English.

What’s in it for developers?

Developers get a quality mark and an official sign of approval by the Hattrick team. The rules ensure that all applications have the same potential to attract users.

Developers get access to information in the CHPP conference about actions the Hattrick team takes that may affect their programs. This might be changes of the format of the HRF file and such things.

What’s in it for users?

Users know that the application they are using is approved by the Hattrick team. Users know that it is programmed in such a way so it won’t store their password and the program is treating the Hattrick servers with respect.

What’s in it for Hattrick?

We get control over the development of third-party applications. We can easily see all the approved programs. We get a conference where we can communicate with the developers in an easy fashion.

One of the advantages of Firefox is that add-ons can be created quit easily. Due to this, a lot of add-ons ARE beging created. One of the add-ons I use for Hattrick is PsicoTSI.

PsicoTSI tries to determine the sublevel of the main skill. Does that Supernatural scoring player have a subskill of 14.01 or 14.94?

There is however a problem. The original developer stopped with updating PsicoTSI due to which it could only be used by Firefox 1 or 2. Firefox 3 appeared a bridge too far. Stijn Wijndaele from Belgium apparently also likes PsicoTSI and decided to try and make it work under Firefox 3. He succeeded! Visit his website to download the latest version.

The issues with PsicoTSI are resolved. Stijn Wijndaele his version was not allowed by CHPP but now the original developer made a new version available. You can download the new version here after registrating yourself as an advanced user who is willing to use experimental plugins.

I tried it and it works great!

The Hattrick Ratings website is unavailable for quite some time now. As a result of this we can’t download our beloved tool. I found version 2.13 on the internet, which actually is version 2.11 + an update to version 2.13. Go ahead and download HT Ratings through the link below.

HT Ratings is a standalone application to optimize your virtual football (soccer) team for the webgame hattrick. More information about HTR can be found here. Please also check the comment by LaHadi in which he describes a workaround regarding the recent changes in the hattrick.org interfaces.

Interviews are for example with people from the community like CHHP software developers and national team coaches. The news is for example an HT-official stating that Clowns are useless and insight stories discuss the value of clowns and the relation between training and injuries.

Hattrick News is a nice website with a nice lay-out and good stories. It would be even better if posts arrived more regularly as it’s a big gap between October 2006 and March 2008.
